Neighborhoods in the Network / Tree Army Reunion (Warren, PA)
08.18.10 |
We're all invited to join the members of the Depression-era Civilian Conservation Corps -- the CCC -- for a reunion with ceremonies and a picnic that all begins at 10 a.m. on Friday, August 20 at Pennsylvania’s Warren County Visitor's Center. Join Martha Manikas-Foster in this "Neighborhoods in the Network" feature to learn about the three million men of the CCC -- FDR's Tree Army -- and how the CCC changed the forests of America.

Best wieshes on your upcoming CCC reunion. I have fond memories of working with the CCC boys in partnership on the Allegheny National Forest.

Those attending the CCC reunion in Warren, PA, or the CCC Legacy reunion in Branson, Missouri in September, may be interested in obtaining the most documented history of the 4,500 CCC camps that existed 1933 - 1942. CCC Company 1538 was named the outstanding CCC camp in the Army 5th Corps Area. This also has much overall information about the CCC and the Army which commanded it. I am the author from whom books may be purchased. The publisher no longer has copies. Contact me at kmswrsj@earthlink.net. The enrollees of the CCC were examples for our youth to emulate today.

My grandfather was part of the CCC. My father told me he was stationed in Warren County. Is there a roster where I would find his name?
