Volunteers Make A Difference

Volunteers have been making a difference at Family Life for years. Recently we asked some of them to share about their volunteer experience.

"I love volunteering at Family Life. It's such a blessing to see all the people there that are being fed spiritually and physically. It's also a place to make new friends and get reaquainted with old friends. I always leave there with a warm feeling in my heart."

"Volunteering at Family Life is great. It is wonderful to see so many people from many walks of life and denominations come together, work hard and have fun doing it. I can honestly say I have not ever had a bad time at any Family Life events. Whether volunteering or attending, I believe God is showing me and the rest of us we can be one big family. And that is the way everyone is treated at Family Life, like family." James Hughes

"It was with much apprehension that I volunteered the first time at Family Life for a dinner concert. When I arrived, I was greeted warmly by other smiling volunteers and was soon working side by side with other, more seasoned, workers.  I was never left alone on my own or instructed to do something that I wasn't comfortable doing.  The time I spent working my shift flew by so quickly that I was surprised when we had finished up.  What I thought might possibly be a burden or a chore, had actually turned out to be down right fun!  I also felt very blessed to have had the opportunity to laugh and meet new people as I was able to serve Christ in this different way.  Although I'm not able to volunteer as often as I would like, and each time I do, the experience is different, I believe that I have taken home in my heart and mind, a joy far greater than the labor that I had contributed. Thank you Family Life for offering opportunities like these!" Kimberly Bechdel

"Volunteering is a whole bunch of fun! When I volunteer, everyone at Family Life makes me feel that I am special and that I  belong to the Family Life Network family. It is an awesome experience to feel that I am a part (a small part) of such a wonderful ministry.  My blessings from volunteering far outnumber any amount of hours that I give as a volunteer. I love to volunteer! Thank You Family Life Network!" Cynthia Bell

"I started last fall helping in the kitchen-- not only have I learned how to prepare and present food but also have been blessed with new friendships of others who also volunteer.  I was amazed the first time how everything flowed like clockwork. After offering a prayer for safety and blessing our chef, Sherri, goes from station to station instructing and encouraging us in the tasks we are assigned.  In serving the people at the buffet tables I have been blessed to serve and greet many guests.  I would encourage anyone who likes to work hard and learn something new to join us in the kitchen.  Soups on!!  Dinner is served!!! " Jackie Palmer

"I love volunteering at Family Life. It's such a blessing to see all the people there That are being fed spiritually and physically. "I gratefully thank FLM for the outreach they have to allow people like my husband and I to serve our Lord in his name." Michelle Holcomb

"It was such a blessing for me to serve at the dinner theatre presented at Davis College this past December 08.  Not only did I get to enjoy a wonderful performance of The Gifts of the Magi but I got to partake in a delicious meal and the honor of working with other volunteers in God's service." Karen Harriell

"I really enjoy coming to help out with the Sharathons. It puts a whole new spin to Family Life Network instead of just the voices on the radio. It's really nice to meet the staff and work with them as well. They are all very nice and we can work together to reach other people for Christ." Amy Vonderchek

"I had the opportunity this past Fall Sharathon to work in the kitchen. At first I felt kind of lost not knowing where to find things, but after a while I was able to get into the swing of things and enjoyed being able to help out with the event. Even though I was volunteering my time I felt that the Family Life folks did more for me than I did for them. I am very thankful for the network and also for the opportunities you provide for us to volunteer." Tammy McCaslin
