God has been teaching me on this matter in the last few months.  It has always been a confusing and intimidating concept to me but the closer I grow to the Lord, holiness becomes clearer and less frightening.  I learned that I don’t have to act or look a certain way to be holy, I am to be holy as God is holy (Lev 11:44) for without holiness none of us would see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

I had always wanted to “fit in” somewhere because I longed to know that I matter in this world.  For many years, I looked to worldly things to dress up my uniqueness.   I didn’t want to be different for God.  I wanted to be different for the sake of being different.  Consequently, I was the focal point of my uniqueness and not God.   I experience holiness only when I allow him to entrench every aspect of my life and obey his teachings no matter how difficult, awkward, or illogical it may appear to me.

Dear friends, the world needs to see that we are different but in a way that sets us apart as ones belonging to the God of the universe.   We represent Jesus to one another and to a world full of hurts.  Our deepest desires should be to pursue holiness in ways that will compel us out of comfort zone and propel us into the things that will build up God’s kingdom.  I pray for us as my little Isaiah would pray, “God, please make us holy.  Thank you God.  Amen God.”

2 Cor 7:1 “Let us purify everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God”
