Holy Week: Thursday

04.02.15 | Family Life Mornings

After resting a day on Wednesday, it was time to prepare for the Passover Feast.  Jesus sent Peter and John ahead to the Upper Room in Jerusalem. That night, he washed his disciples’ feet.  This one act serves as a reminder of how we are to humbly serve one another.  Jesus knew this was one of his last days on earth, and his last Passover.  He was about to fulfill the meaning of Passover by becoming our sacrificial lamb.  During this Last Supper, “He took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to them, saying, 'This is my body, which is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me.' And likewise the cup after they had eaten, saying, 'This cup that is poured out for you is the new covenant in my blood.' " Later, they went to the Garden of Gethsemane where Jesus prayed to God the Father.  That night he was also betrayed with a kiss by Judas and arrested by the Sanhedrin.  He spent that night in the home of the High Priest.
