Staycations: Eckley Miners' Village

07.07.17 | Traci Lynn Woolsey

Eckley was a small village built in the 1850's for mining laborers working in Council Ridge Colliery. Today, tourists walk the streets of Eckley to experience what it was like to live here during the mining era. They will see the shacks, which housed the unskilled slate pickers, small yet efficient single-family homes constructed for the superintendents and employers and clapboard houses. Site Administrator Bode Morin shares with Family Life's Traci Lynn. http://eckleyminersvillage.com
