Inside Out: Trafficking Awareness: It happens right here

01.02.19 | Martha Manikas-Foster

The modern slave trade is thriving. And not just “somewhere else.” It is growing right here in the United States.

“We believe, based on different statistics and people we work with, that the number’s at least 100,000 American boys and girls are sold every day for sex all across this country,” says Kevin Malone. Malone’s a former LA Dodgers General Manager who for the past nine years has been fighting child sex trafficking as the co-founder of the U.S. Institute Against Human Trafficking.

Deb Kuehner of the Potters Hands Foundation works with adult women coming out of trafficking and heads up a safe house to help them heal. She joins Malone in this Inside Out news feature to help us learn about the scope of the crisis and what people who love God can do to fight it.

We all need to “to keep our eyes open and to be educated and aware and share what we know so that we can help prevent it,” says Keener. “And if you see something, say something. Make sure that you are doing your part in this fight.”
