William Penns Once A Decade Makeover Is Underway In Philadelphia

It is time for the 37-foot tall bronze statue of the founder of Pennsylvania sitting high atop City Hall in Philadelphia to get the sculpture version of a spa day treatment with a bath, a laser treatment, wax and buff. But this treatment will take more than a day. Think four weeks to six weeks, weather permitting.

The statue, created in 1892 is fitted together in 47 sections and weighs more than 53,000 pounds. It is the largest sculpture atop any building in the world.
