Whitesboro Crash Leaves Police Officer Dead

04.12.18 | Bob Price

A crash in the village of Whitesboro has left a police officer dead.

State police say a village of Whitesboro patrol vehicle was hit by a pickup truck around 8 p.m. Wednesday night at the intersection of Oriskany Boulevard and Westmoreland Street.

The officer involved was rushed to St. Elizabeth's Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.  His name is not being released at this time.

The other driver was also hospitalized with injuries not considered to be life-threatening.

It isn’t clear if there was surveillance video of the crash. The owner of a business right where the crash happened, said he turned over video to state police, who are continuing to investigate.

There will be a news conference at some point Thursday that Spectrum News is planning to carry that news conference live.
