The Irs Is Extending The Tax Filing Deadline For Small Businesses In Ny Affected By Winter Storm Stella

Senator Chuck Schumer's office said the IRS responded to letter he sent earlier this week on behalf of his constituents asking the agency to extend the March 15 deadline because of power outages and inclement weather.

A Schumer spokesman says the agency will now extend deadlines for small businesses to file for six months without penalty.

New York was under a state of emergency this week as a nor'easter pounded parts of the state with up to three feet of snow and caused caused thousands to lose power.
