Cuomo formally ordered the Senate and the Assembly to reconvene.

The 15-year policy giving Democratic Mayor Bill De Blasio control over his city's schools expires Friday if lawmakers do nothing.

Many lawmakers want the special session to also focus on emergency funding for the city's subway following another derailment Tuesday.

State Sen. John DeFrancisco of Syracuse says issues concerning central New York should be addressed as well.  He says legislators should discuss money for Lake Ontario flood victims and tax relief to benefit Vernon Downs.
