The business and personal finance publication Kiplinger has analyzed taxes in every state in the nation, and for New Yorkers who complain about the tax pinch, here's some proof.

The Empire State lands third on Kiplinger's list of the "least tax-friendly states" where residents pay "above-average taxes."

The Kiplinger analysis examined a range of taxes: from state income to property, sales, gas, and estate taxes.

According to Kiplinger, Minnesota tops the list of being "least tax-friendly."

Maryland is second followed by New York.

The "most tax-friendly" states are Alaska, Wyoming, and South Dakota.
