A Southern Tier County Is Taking Steps To Combat The Opiod Epidemic

Broom County leaders are suing ten pharmaceutical companies and four doctors to hold them accountable for helping in heroin addictions.

Last year, the county spent $6 million in opiod and heroin treatment.          
Broome County Executive Jason Garner says they are looking to "recoup any amount of money" they can.

Broome County officials say the suit is meant to hold the guilty parties accountable.

Last year, 67 people died in Broome County from opioids.
