It's all about the paint in their homes, but there may be a solution.

Chuck Schumer is pleading with the federal government to o.k. over $5 million to remove lead-based paint in homes throughout western New York.

Schumer says more than 40% of the homes in Erie and Niagara counties were built before 1950 when lead paint was common. That's 4 in every 10 houses.

Lead paint has been linked to neurological and behavioral problems.
