Too Heavenly Minded?

We've all heard the saying...."He's too heavenly minded to be any earthly good."

But can we really focus on Heaven too much?

Can we have too much of God?

I'm thinking most of us have the opposite problem.

We don't focus on the Lord and eternity nearly enough.

Colossians 3:2 (ESV)
" Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth."

C.S. Lewis noted that if we look at church history we find those who made the biggest impact on the present world were those who were most concerned about the next.

The more we're in step with the Holy Spirit, the more we'll be actively pursuing His plan in the world.

And we'll have the strength to accomplish the missions he sends us on day by day.

Here's Jesus talking....

John 15:5 (ESV) " I am the vine; you are the branches. Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is that bears much fruit, for apart from me you can do nothing."

Martin Luther said this:

"I have only two days on my calendar: today and that day."

The present moment and the day when I stand before God.

That's wisdom.

I do not believe we can be too heavenly minded. We are to keep our eyes on Jesus daily, hourly ,and minute by minute.
We are to ponder , think about the things in heaven. It's scriptural. The Bible tells us to think about the things above, Heavenly.
I think we are to live life for God as if TODAY were the day of His return. So we can never be too heavenly minded.
