Dose of Encouragement...

(Acts 2:38)  … "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The gift of God isn’t just waiting in heaven. Starting here and now we can know the gift of God’s presence and power by trusting  in His Son, Jesus Christ.

Wow! So many great calls from those who's marriages were saved! Here's just a small sample:

7 years ago, my husband died suddenly in a car accident. At the time of his death, we were estranged. We had grown apart slowly but it was caused by disrespect. At that time in our lives, we were not walking with the Lord. I still believe that if I had pushed harder to bring us both to the church and to the Lord, he might still be alive. If the accident was destined to be, then he would have been comforted by our Lord. Today, my daughter and I have turned our lives around and I know that my behavior contributed to our problems.

Commit to your marriage; walk in the Lord; and live each day in a loving relationship, not only with the Lord, but with all of his children, including your spouse.

I know this is a day late, but I felt that this a very good topic and wanted to share my story and give all praise and glory to our Lord. 11 years ago, I was in a very dark spot in my life, I didn't know the Lord at this point and to say the least, I was allowing my friends cloud my judgement and help me make decisions. All of them were seperating and divorcing from their spouses and so one evening out of the clear blue sky,I asked my husband for a seperation and told him that I would keep our two children. Needless to say he was devistated and not happy with me at all. Being the wonderful man he is, he took baby steps with me, got me to talk, and on days I was home, he would call "just because" ( I think now, that he was calling to make sure I was still there). Shortly after this situation, the Lord literally came knocking on our door. Ladies from our local church came door to door inviting neighbors and us to church...little did we know that was to be the best step in our (my) recovery. We have been members of this church for 10 years now, our children are active in the youth group and the Lord has blessed me with a position within the church as a parish assistant. I couldn't love my husband/family more if I wanted to...thanks to our Lord and redeemer. Now looking back, it's so easy to see that the Lord has had a plan for me all along. I should let everyone know that is facing simular not make hasty descisions before allowing the Lord to have the opportunity to touch your lives. He can place a light into the darkest of areas....he just needs to be invited in!!! I thank God everyday for the touch He placed upon our lives. We are blessed beyond measure!! :)
