Righteousness Pursued = A Joyful Life

You want to clear a room?
Bring up the subject of righteousness.
The pursuit of a life lived entirely to honor God.
To follow His guidelines in the Bible.
In small things.
In big things.
In all things.
The key word to camp out on is pursuit.
We Christ followers never get it right every time.
There's grace to fill the gaps.
Faithful obedience isn't about perfection.
It's the commitment to fight the good fight against sin in our lives.
To seek forgiveness when a battle is lost:
1 John 1:9 (ESV)
"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."
To remember the loss of a battle isn't the loss of a war.
Progress can be measured in steps some days.
In leaps on others.
But knowing our salvation is based on Christ's sacrifice on the cross and not our performance frees us to obey out of love.
And to experience peace in the process.
Psalms 1:1-2 (NLT)
"Oh, the joys of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with scoffers. But they delight in doing everything the LORD wants; day and night they think about his law."
The joy is there even when my reach exceeds my grasp.
I can handle having a fist full of air as long as God has a firm grip on my heart.
