Things can come at you in life like bullets fired from a machine gun.
So fast, so much, so scattered.
How do you respond?
That's a question I asked myself recently. But I didn't have a good answer.
Until a couple of days ago.
Here are some verses that jumped off the page and into my heart:
1 Thessalonians 5:16-18 (NKJV)
" Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
These are verses I'm well familiar with.. but the Holy Spirit applied them in a slightly different way this time.
What is God's will in the midst of challenging times?
To Rejoice-Remember who He is, that Christ has taken care of my sin, that I'm heaven bound and useful to God here and now.
To Pray Without Ceasing-Pour out my heart to God without limit, asking for His help, His power, and His perspective.
To Give Thanks In Everything-Not necessarily thanking God for everything, but thanking Him in the midst of everything. I'm not alone. I trust Him to handle things for His glory and my good.
This is His will in Christ Jesus for me.
It's a three point play from "The Playbook" that's easy to remember when the game gets fast and furious.
(Buzzer Sounds)
Game time.
