mikeshoesSweet Soul:  Keep Mikeschair lead singer Mike Grayons in your prayers.  Friday he ventured to Guatemala on a trip with Shoes For Orphan Souls. Sunday he was able to lead a large worship service.

Mouth of Babes:
You’ve likely heard the latest Citizen Way song “Nothing Ever (Could Separate Us)” on Family Life.  Their last hit, “Should’ve Been Me” was inspired during a week of church camp.  “I’ll never forget, there was a kid there who responded and simply said, ‘I learned that it should’ve been me.’ I thought, what a pretty profound thing for a 13-year old kid to understand the gravity and weight of what Christ did for each of us on the cross.”

A Lotta Love:  We told you about Brandon Heath’s annual benefit concert, “Love
Your Neighbor” held in Brentwood, TN. The locally-minded show raised more than $16,000 through audience donations for New Hope Academy, a privately-funded pre-Kindergarten thru sixth grade school in Franklin,TN, which exists to serve low-income families with free tuition for its classical education.

Maybe Next Year:  Singer and mom Francesca Battistelli recently offered up some of her favorite Mother’s Day gift ideas:  a gift certificate to a spa, a fresh spring wreath, a lovely journal or calendar.  Wonder what Father’s Day Ideas she has.

Dear Ol’ Dad: Celebrating this upcoming Fathers Day, Jaci Velasquez and father David Velasquez record together for the first time in 20 years. The song is the Irving Gordon classic "Unforgettable."  David and Jaci's song is available now on iTunes and will be available at other digital service providers in time to celebrate Fathers Day.

Southern Boys Beverage:  Southern Christian artists Rhett Walker Band (“Come To the Rivers”) refer to their fans as  "RhettNeck."  Recently one of them brought a 24 pack of one of their favorite drinks to a show:  Sundrop soda.

New on Family Life:

“Overcomer” by Mandisa:  Her new CD comes out this fall.  This song is a follow up to “Stronger” and doesn’t even sound like Mandisa on the first verse.  She is charting new vocal sounds and it’s amazing!

“Lift My Life Up” by Unspoken: This up-and-coming groups has a new CD, “The World is Waking,” is coming out 6/25.  Listen to win it, before you can buy it, Tunesday, 6/18 on Family Life.
