FL News: Christian License Plates - Yay Or Nay?

Last week, a license plate went on sale in Texas that reads "One State Under God". It features three crosses on a hill to represent the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. Proceeds from the sale of the plate benefit a ministry called Glory Gang, that buses 350 low-income kids to camps, Christian services on Sunday, and covers tennis shoes and toys at Christmas. But the Texas Freedom Network said states need to be careful when giving the government authority to favor a particular religion. They said "that's what bumper stickers are for." Richard Konderla is the lead pastor of the Glory Gang. He spoke with our Sarah Harnisch about the plates and their ministry.

It teaches kids how to speak Hebrew, apologetics, biblical history, and even Math-- by using the Bible.
FL News: Millions Protest Obama's Contraception Mandate

In the next day or so, a letter bearing the names of 25-hundred Christian pastors of all denominations across the country will be delivered to President Obama's desk. They are angered over his mandate that all women have access to birth control. Religious groups will not have to pay for it directly, though they may through fees, but they will have to offer it to their employees, even if it goes against their religious beliefs. President Obama has given them a year to comply. In addition to the Family Research Center letter, two groups have sent letters to the President against the contraception mandate. The National Association of Evangelicals and the Southern Baptist Convention represent 50 million Christians in America, one in every six people in the country. Rob Schwarzalder, Family Research Counsel Senior Vice President, helped showcase the letter on the steps of the capitol this week. He spoke with morning news anchor Sarah Harnisch.

FL News: Who Pays For Birth Control?

President Obama said he will not force faith-based employers, those working at non-profits, hospitals, missions groups, para-church ministries, or Christian colleges-- to offer birth control as part of their health insurance plans. But the Beckett Fund says insurance companies will not swallow the cost of free birth control for all women in America. Beckett Attorney Kyle Duncan spoke with Family Life's Sarah Harnisch, and said faith groups will be indirectly picking up the tab.
The battle over whether or not New York City churches should be allowed to rent public school space on the weekends has taken an interesting turn. It's been fought in a courtroom for 16 years, and the Senate and Assembly have written bills on the issue, but today, the Alliance Defense Fund asked the city to bypass the court and legislative system and drop the eviction notices to over 100 churches.
