Actually as Christians we’ve got eight of them.
The Beatitudes are the opening lines of Jesus in The Sermon on the Mount:
Matthew 5:3-10 (NKJV)
"Blessed are the poor in spirit, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
Blessed are those who mourn, For they shall be comforted.
Blessed are the meek, For they shall inherit the earth.
Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, For they shall be filled.
Blessed are the merciful, For they shall obtain mercy.
Blessed are the pure in heart, For they shall see God.
Blessed are the peacemakers, For they shall be called sons of God.
Blessed are those who are persecuted for righteousness' sake, For theirs is the kingdom of heaven."
Have you ever spent some time pondering these famous words?
There’s so much there.
David Timms is a professor at Hope International University and has written a very insightful new book about how to apply these timeless truths to our lives.
It’s called The Power of Blessing.
If you’re more confused than blessed by these lines… take a few minutes to listen to my conversation with David.
And may God give you a clarity that leads to hope.
To joy.
To worship.
