More then 1.2 million Americans have died since the Revolutionary war in 1775. Tens of millions more have been wounded. A 24-year-old soldier stationed in Kandahar, Afghanistan named Michael Shoemaker was critically wounded a month after he arrived. His family received a call March 29th, 2012 that he'd been unloading weapons when one of the weapons went off, damaging his knee, arm, and brain.

This is Michael before he was deployed:

And this is Michael with his wife and parents today:

I am so proud of Michael and all the other men and women who go above and beyond the call of duty for their country..I can only hope and pray that the government will continue to support our wounded soldiers and their families and award the injured soldiers a purple heart resulting in an injury on enemy grounds, to us this purple heart may not mean much but to these soldiers it is a small token that would help them to know that their injuries as painful as they were..came as a result of an unconditional commitment for their country, family, and friends..god bless all of our soldiers, past present and future.

Hello Michael and Family: Just a short note to express my appreciation for your service to our country. You as well as the other Service men and Women know the dangers that can take place where you can lose your life and or get injured, but you go anyway!! Thank you and may you keep the Faith in God, because He is always with us, no matter what happens. Hope your recovery is not too painful and/or uncomfortable...The picture of you and the little boys is so sweet, God Bless!!

We are proud of our son's Michael and Matthew for serving our country and they are our Hero's. We praise God for the many miracles we have witnessed through Michael's recovery. We have an amazing awesome God. Bless all who have suppported us through this horrible experience. Pray for the safe return of all our soldiers fighting for our freedom, and they healing of the 1000's of injured soldiers.
