You may remember a craze in the Christian community over a book about the prayer of Jabez which is found in I Chronicles 4:10. Jabez’ prayer was simple, “Oh that you would bless me and enlarge my territory!” Though the book’s content created some controversy, that simple prayer is still being answered by God today!
“I listen to your radio station every morning and every evening on my commute between Syracuse and Rochester. Unfortunately I lose the station as I enter Rochester and also lose the station entering Syracuse. When are you going to widen the transmission in the Syracuse area??”
The Lord has blessed the ministry of Family Life in amazing ways since its inception in 1957. We couldn’t have imagined what He had planned for what began as a small youth ministry.
“I was listening to some of your Share-A-Thon this morning and wanted to send you a note to let you know that you have listeners out here in Susquehanna County, PA. For me and my Christian friends, where to hear FLN is a topic of conversation quite often…coverage is difficult to find. Unfortunately, I am not able to hear FLN in my car from anywhere I’ve traveled in the county…Please consider putting a [station] in Susquehanna County. There are many, many listeners out here!!”
We draw encouragement when we hear how God works through the ministry of Family Life to touch the hearts of individuals. It’s rewarding to see how the Lord takes team efforts of staff, prayer warriors, and financial supporters to encourage and inspire through a radio signal, a dramatic production, a concert, a youth event, or one of the many other outreaches at Family Life!
“I know I have contacted you in the past regarding an Adirondack station, but again I would like to express the need for quality Christian radio and programming up our way…we are in desperate need of good and quality Christian radio…Whatever I can do to help this become a reality, I would be glad to help.”
At Family Life we deeply believe the Biblical principle that “where much is given, much is required”. We understand that the days are short and only what is done for Christ will last. That passion motivates the prayer to “enlarge our territory!”
“I talked to Rick Snavely about the listeners in Meadville, PA. There are many who enjoy the ministry of FLN, but can only get your channel once in a while. We will continue to pray for God’s leading as you consider where to expand your programming.”
The Lord continues to respond to that prayer in incredible ways. By the end of this calendar year, five additional full-power stations could be constructed allowing a greater reach for Family Life throughout New York and Pennsylvania. These stations include: (next page)
• Wattsburg, PA – Extending FLN from the Jamestown station to beyond Erie
• Cambridge Springs, PA – Covering far western Pennsylvania from Meadville and south
• Farmington Township, PA – Reaching Titusville, Franklin, and Oil City
• Tunkhannock, PA – Enhancing FLN’s signal to Towanda, Montrose, and Clarks Summit
• Silver Creek, NY – Covering the hard-to-reach area from Fredonia to Lackawanna

“Is there anything you can do to increase the signal in the Buffalo market? It is very weak from South Buffalo all the way to Grand Island. Unfortunately, this is where most of the people who need to hear the message are…I like to listen on the way to work in the morning but the signal breaks up as I drive from Riverside to Cheektowaga. I can handle it but it drives my wife nuts.”
Only the Lord knows where He will lead His ministry at Family Life. These e-mails are just a small sampling of what we receive on a regular basis. Our mission field is New York and Pennsylvania. But man’s plans are only fruitful as the Lord opens the doors and enlarges one’s territory.
On Wednesday, July 14 Family Life will hold a one-day “Enlarge Our Territory” fund drive to help cover the significant construction costs for these new stations. Your involvement would help to provide a quality Family Life signal to nearly 1,000,000 more potential listeners!
