Have you ever been jealous of anyone?
I know your answer already.
Not because I’ve been reading your mail, emails, texts or listening in on your conversations.
I just know you’re human.
Remember this snapshot from the Gospel of John following Christ’s resurrection?
Peter and Jesus are taking a stroll and John is following them a few steps behind
Jesus looks Peter in the eye and says in John 21:18-22 (NKJV):
“Most assuredly, I say to you, when you were younger, you girded yourself and walked where you wished; but when you are old, you will stretch out your hands, and another will gird you and carry you where you do not wish." This He spoke, signifying by what death he would glorify God. And when He had spoken this, He said to him, "Follow Me."
Then Peter, turning around, saw the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also had leaned on His breast at the supper, and said, "Lord, who is the one who betrays You?" Peter, seeing him, said to Jesus, "But Lord, what about this man?"
Jesus said to him, "If I will that he remain till I come, what is that to you? You follow Me."
Keep your focus on me Jesus was saying.
Don’t be looking at anyone else and my plans for them.
I’ve got a specific plan for you.
Despite how it may look now… it’s a good and significant plan.
No need to be jealous of my other servants.
You need to follow me... Where I lead you.
You call me Lord… will you let me call the shots?
Remember what happened with King Saul and David? (1 Samuel 9-31)
Shawn Lantz has written a book that helps us to remember.
It’s called Living with Unmet Desires.
Grab a mug of coffee or a cup of tea and listen to my conversation with Shawn.
Be warned.
Be convicted.
Be blessed!
