Jamey Rodemeyer was just 14 when he took his own life. his parents say it was because of school bullying. Now, State Senator Jeff Klein has the backing of several members of the Senate and is proposing a bill that would expand the crime of stalking to include cyber-bullying. Cyber-bullying is defined as "A minor creating fear or harm through electronic communication." A second, and more controversial, part of the bill would include a brand new term called "bullycide," which would make it second degree manslaughter. Bullycide is defined as "Someone, who in the course of committing stalking, intentionally causes the victim to commit suicide." Cyberbullying would include negative posts on facebook, posting embarrasing photos of another online, and instant-messaging as another person.
