The United Nations General Assembly is addressing Syria's violent crackdown on protesters. The assembly will take up a draft resolution from Saudi Arabia urging global support of the Arab League plan to end the ongoing violence in Syria and calls on Syrian President Bashar al-Assad to step down. On Sunday, the Arab League called on the UN Security Council to deploy a peacekeeping mission to war torn nation. The group also urged Arab nations to cut off diplomatic relations with Damascus. The continued crackdown on anti-government protesters in Syria has left more than seven-thousand people dead since March.
