Western New Yorker Could Help Lead Popular Vote Movement

A western New York billionaire could have a hand in ending the electoral college system used to choose presidents. Tom Golisano, a 3-time New York gubernatorial candidate and Rochester billionaire is becoming a spokesman in the natonal popular vote campaign. The group is trying to get states to move to a popular-vote system for electing the president. Golisano will announce specifics of his role at a news conference in Washington D.C. today. What we do know already is that he plans to meet with legislative leaders and governors across the country. The popular vote measure has already been passed in six states and is actively being considered in dozens of other states.
