The U.S. ambassador to Afghanistan is warning against a troop buildup in the country. News reports say Ambassador Karl Eikenberry, in classified cables sent last week, warned that sending more troops would be, quote, "unwise because of the corruption and ineffectiveness of the Afghan government." The envoy's warning comes as President Obama is poised to announce his decision about sending more troops to Afghanistan.

The ambassador's opinion comes as rumors swill that President Obama will soon announce plans to send thousands of additional troops to Afghanistan in hopes of turning the tide against militants. Obama and his top national security advisors is reportedly weighing four options that would add between ten-thousand and 40-thousand U.S. troops to the 68-thousand already deployed in Afghanistan.
