Two Different Studies By Penn State Show Different Results On The Marcellus Shale Jobs

A new study trims the number of jobs created by Marcellus Shale gas drilling in Pennsylvania. Last year's study, funded by the Marcellus Shale coalition, found the gas industry created more than 44-thousand jobs in 2009.  But a state-funded study released this week said 23-thousand-five-hundred jobs were created by Marcellus Shale drilling that same year.  Penn state researches were commissioned for both studies. Despite broad-ranging results, one analyst says the jobs created are good news. He went on to say it may simply come down to the funding behind the study-- the first study-- was funded by gas drilling companies.
