Twitter Tweets To Be Digitally Archived At Library Of Congress

Every public tweet ever sent since Twitter was introduced in 2006 will be housed in digital format at the Library of Congress. The giant library made the announcement through a posting on its blog today. Twitter officials apparently will do the same from the social media firm's Chirp conference in San Francisco.

Each day Twitter processes more than 50-million tweets, which are messages of 140 characters or less. Among the more noteworthy tweets in the Library of Congress archive will be the one President Obama sent out upon being declared the winner of the 2008 election.
