Toyota Recall Spreads To Europe
01.28.10 |
The bad brakes continue for Toyota. The automaker's recall of millions of its well-known models in the U.S. has mushroomed to Europe. Although the world's largest car maker would not say how many cars will be recalled in Europe, industry analysts say two-million vehicles could fall under the recall. That would be on top of the nearly six million vehicles recalled in the U.S. Earlier this week the automaker stopped sales and production of eight of its models because of sticking gas pedals. One auto analyst predicts the halt in production and sales could cost Toyota 553-million dollars a month. A Toyota spokesperson said there are no plans to stop production in Europe during the recall. For now, Toyota, whose reputation for quality has been a mainstay of the company, is having to deal with a landslide of negative news.
