The Marcellus Shale Pennsylvanias Gold Rush

The Marcellus Shale is on the cusp of becoming one of the top natural gas fields in the nation, according to new data from the federal government. Though serious drilling began only 5 years ago, the sheer volume of gas from the Shale suggests there's no going back. In 2008, Marcellus production barely registered on national energy reports, but now, it generates some 7.4 billion cubic feet a day, more then double the volume from last April. That means its neck and neck with production from the most productive gas wells in the nation in Arkansas and Texas.
