Telemarketers Could Be Banned From New York

New York State has struck a blow to telemarketers. All telemarketers could soon be prohibited from using pre-recorded messages to anyone living in the Empire state in a deal struck verbally Tuesday by Governor Andrew Cuomo and lawmakers. The only exception is if the company can get consent from the person on the receiving end. The bill also allows the state to ban companies that break the law from conducting business in New York. It also affects political robocalls. The bill is expected to pass both the Senate and Assembly.
