The deadline is this Thursday for school districts across the state of New York to have their teacher evaluation plans in place, and the vast majority of districts say they will make the cutoff. Those that don't risk loosing a share of a 4-percent increase in state aid. The Education Commission said that as of Friday, the department had approved 637 plans, and just 47 districts were awaiting approval. Seven, including New York city, had yet to submit a plan. Evaluations are based, in part, on how students score on standardized tests.
