Tax Cut Deal Still Up In Air
12.19.11 |
A deal to extend payroll tax cuts for two months is up in the air. The Democratic-led Senate approved a two month extension Saturday but there may not be enough votes in the Republican-run House to approve it. The so-called payroll tax holiday expires at the end of the month. President Obama has warned that struggling families could lose up to one thousand dollars in 2012 without a full extension. The two-month Senate extension aims to give lawmakers more time to negotiate a longer deal. On NBC's "Meet the Press," House Speaker John Boehner said Republicans will continue to insist on a one year extension.
