(Slidell, LA)  --  The mess from the BP oil spill off the coast of Louisiana is closing in on Lake Pontchartrain which is bordered by five parishes in the state.  Folks have been hard at work trying to keep the oil out of Lake Pontchartrain in southeast Louisiana, but they may be losing the battle if not the war.  Small tar balls related to the oil spill in the Gulf were found in the waters near the Rigolets [[ Rig-oh-lees ]] just east of the lake near Slidell.  Cleanup crews dressed in protective suits tackled the mess scooping it up with small fishing nets for much of the day Monday.
