Swearing On Tv Hits A New High
11.15.10 |
Whatever happened to family television? Obscenities in prime-time family shows have skyrocketed this year. The "f" word, for example, counted only 10 times in a week 5 years ago, was found 276 times in 2 weeks in a study conducted by the Parents Television Counsel this year. That's a 69 percent increase. Prime Time viewing hour is considered 8 to 9 p.m. eastern time. PTC President Tim Winter said "broadcasters continue to claim that they can regulate themselves, but their behavior suggests otherwise. Are we to expect a 69 percent increase in tv profanity every five years?"
