Story Of Hijacked Ship Captain Will Become Movie
05.29.09 |
The life story of hijacked sea captain Richard Phillips is headed for the big screen. Columbia Pictures says it has acquired the rights to the tale of Phillips' harrowing experiences at the hands of Somali pirates during a recent hijacking on the Indian Ocean.
Phillips was held for five days on a lifeboat before a daring rescue by U.S. Navy Seals. Producers have not announced who will play the part of the sea captain. Actor Kevin Spacey will co-produce with Scott Rudin of the Oscar-winning "No Country for Old Men." No release date has been announced.
