Stomach Flu On The Rise In Pennsylvania

Outbreaks of the norovirus infection, or “stomach flu,” are sharply on the rise in Pennsylvania. It has prompted the Department of Health to offer tips to help prevent the spread of the highly contagious illness.

Spokesperson Stacey Kreideman says sudden outbreaks can result when people bring the infection into facilities such as hospitals, residential and nursing homes and schools. That is why if you are suffering from vomiting and diarrhea, you should stay away from crowded places until you are completely free from symptoms for at least 48 hours.
