State Offers No Empathy For Kids Taking The Common Core Exams In Ny

It is day 2 of Common Core testing in Upstate New York. Kids grades 3 through 8 are hunkering down for tough new Math and English exams. But the state isn't showing much sympathy. Take the tests, the state says. They say schools aren't obligated to offer any alternatives. And they said any students who boycott the tests should be punished by attendance rules or disciplinary policies. The state also said no teacher would be hurt-- because these tests will not be used to calculate the new performance evaluations. English tests are this week; math is next week.
