Southwest Airlines Tests In Flight Internet

Southwest Airlines is testing in-flight Internet. The airline has equipped one aircraft with Wi-Fi technology and is set to equip three additional aircraft by early March. Airline spokesman Dave Ridley says Internet connectivity has been high on Southwest's list of priorities, and they believe the aircraft-to-satellite technology is the most robust solution in the industry.

Passengers who use the services during the test period can log on for free via their own personal wi-fi enabled device, such as laptops or iPhones. Southwest will be testing the technology over the next few months. The service is being offered on a trial basis and has not yet received final FCC approval.
