Broome Community College in Binghamton is preparing students for careers in the casino industry.  A $300,000  mock casino is the setting for SUNY Broome’s new casino management program, which recently received approval by the State University of New York.  It will serve as the training ground for students eager to break into the casino industry. The curriculum for the casino management certificate includes classes on table surveillance and security, casino operations management and a casino internship.  New York State will issue up to four casino licenses in the upstate region, this fall.  Anti-casino groups say the negative effect of institutionalize gambling will outweigh the economic benefits.
