Some Republicans Call On Lazio To End Gubernatorial Bid
09.22.10 |
(New York, NY) -- Last week former Long Island Congressman Rick Lazio found himself on the losing end of his race to win the Republican nomination for Governor. Now Republican party leaders want him to give up his Conservative Party ballot slot in the November election. Tea Party favorite Carl Paladino surprised the Republican establishment by winning the GOP nod in a landslide last week. The Conservative Party had endorsed Lazio in the race.
The latest Quinnipiac University shows Paladino gaining ground on Democratic front runner Andrew Cuomo. The Q-poll out this morning shows Cuomo leading the Tea-Party backed Paladino 49- to 43 percent among likely New York voters. The survey also found 41-percent of voters believe the most important quality of a candidate is the ability to bring change. The poll surveyed 751 voters and has a margin of error of plus or minus three percentage points. Seven-percent of voters surveyed were undecided.
