Some Are Upset Over The New Approval Process For Hydrofracking In Ny

Environmentalists are calling for a broader health review of hydrofracking in New York state. Critics said Monday a 3-panel out-of-state review that will take about 90 days is not comprehensive enough and quote "ludicrously short." At a press conference at the state capitol, Binghamton Mayor Matt Ryan said health and safety is an afterthought, and the process is moving too swiftly. The DEC has said high volume hydrofracking will not move forward until they are sure the process is safe. The new public comment period begins December 12th.
