The very same thunderstorm preceded east causing the National Weather Service to issue yet another Severe Thunderstorm Warning from 6 pm to 6:30 pm for Chemung County.  Reports of 1” hail within Horseheads quickly arrived to WETM-TVs Facebook fan page.  Strong winds caused a tree to block 1 lane of traffic on Harris Hill Rd.  Water ponding due to poor drainage was observed across parts of the city of Elmira into Elmira Heights as the storm passed. Tioga County, NY was the final county to receive the intense rain, hail, and wind from the severe storm.  From 7 pm through 7:30 pm the National Weather Service issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning for the county Sunday night.  Heavy rains hail and winds tracked over Spencer 1st. The severe storm then tracked east towards state route 96 located within the eastern half of the county before weakening. After 7:30 pm no further severe thunderstorm warnings were issued by the National Weather Service.Slow moving thunderstorms have been tracking over the Southern Tier of N.Y.S and the N. Tier of Pennsylvania Sunday night. There is a high amount of moisture content within our air and thunderstorms are taking advantage.  Areas of poor drainage may cause water to pond across roadways within Southern Steuben, Chemung and Bradford Counties.  Areas near Mansfield and points south into southeastern Tioga County, PA may also find some sharp rises in creeks and streams along with poor drainage flooding before midnight. Gradually, slow moving thunderstorms and downpours of rain will gradually taper back deeper into the night.  However, more rain and thunderstorm weather is forecast into next week.
