U.S Senator Chuck Schumer is asking for $100 million in funding to curb the scourge of heroin in New York and across the country. Monday, the New York Democrat asked for additional federal dollars to be allocated to the high-intensity drug trafficking-areas' program. Schumer says the move will give authorities in New York and New Jersey the boost they need to better assess heroin's trafficking-patterns in the region. With Mexican-heroin flooding the market, Schumer hopes that the additional money will help develop information sharing between federal agencies and local law-enforcement.
