Senator Hatch Democratic Health Plan A Jobs Killer

A leading Republican in the U.S. Senate says plans by Democrats to reform healthcare will kill jobs. Senator Orrin Hatch of Utah told CBS' "Face the Nation" he fears small businesses will face a tax rate of as much as nearly 46-percent to pay for health insurance, which he noted is almost 10-percent more than what is paid by corporations. Hatch said Republicans have ideas and bills to reform healthcare, but cannot get the Democratic leadership to listen.

On the same program, U.S. Representative Charles Rangel said the whole process has become too political and said he and Senator Hatch could probably get a plan worked out between the two of them. Rangel admitted healthcare reform cannot be done without a tax increase, but said those details are still being worked out.

The New York Democrat said the House will meet the Obama administration's deadline of having legislation completed by August, but said they are still waiting for the Senate to, quote, "do anything."
