Senate Republicans Could Override Gov Rendells Vetoes

(Harrisburg, PA) -- Pennsylvania Senate Republicans say they will try today to override some of Governor Rendell's vetoes to the "bridge budget."  The votes are on ten-to-15 spending vetoes Rendell made to enact a bare-bones, cross-party budget that would only fund the bare essentials of state government.

Republican legislative leaders say most of the vetoes contain the same funding that Rendell has proposed so there is no reason the money should not be released.  The override could release about two-billion-dollars.  Democratic leaders say the vote would only delay an already much-delayed budget agreement.
