Scranton Wants Joe Biden To Pay For His Visit

It's tough on a town to get a Vice Presidential visit. Cash-strapped Scranton says it will bill the Obama/Biden campaign for costs stemming from Vice President Joe Biden's visit Tuesday. Biden's visit to his boyhood home came at a time when the city is on the verge of financial collapse. Last week, the mayor announced he was indefinitely slashing the salaries of employees, including police, to federal minimum wage of $7.25 an hour. City offiicals say it cost them around 15-thousand dollars to have Joe Biden speak before the fireworks; in overtime for police, shutting down city streets, and traffic control. They say it's time for the V.P. to pick up the tab.
