Scientists are exploring the possibility that a different type of stem cell for research.  British scientists say they were able to adapt stem cells taken from amniotic fluid, which is far less controversial than taking stem cells from embryos.  The only issue with the amniotic fluid cells is they aren't as versatile as embryonic stem cells, which are basically master keys for the entire body.  Still, the possibility raises the suggestion that in the future, stem cells could be used from amniotic fluid that was donated and stored in banks.
