Schools In Upstate Ny Teach Students Safety Procedures

Schools went through lock down drills yesterday to teach kids what to do in case of an intruder. At least five schools in Elmira were among those practicing. Broadway Middle School student Rachael Kelly said, "we would have to shut off all the lights, lock all the doors, and move to a space where no one can see us through the halls." Parents told our news partner, WETM TV, they are glad the schools are being proactive. Some of these practices include checking guests in and out of the schools and parents walking their kids to and from school. Kids say they felt safer after running the drills.
